The bar where a Lake Worth man was shot and killed on Thursday morning by a Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy has reopened following the deadly shooting.
Investigators said PBSO deputies were called out to 1st and 10 Sports Bar & Grill Thursday morning around 5:00 a.m. to reports of a fight.
When deputies arrived, investigators said they were confronted by Victor Arango, 26, who allegedly fought with a deputy and eventually pulled out a gun.
"I was surprised that it was in our own quote backyard because it's a nice, quiet, suburban neighborhood,"said Iris Ruderman, a nearby resident.
Deputy Michael Suszczynski, a 7-year veteran to PBSO, shot and killed Arango after Arango allegedly pulled out a pistol.
PBSO said it has been called out to 1st and 10 Bar & Grill 46 times since January
The county code enforcement division is now investigating the bar.
"It's never a problem when I come in here, there's never a problem." Jim Scott, a bar patron.
Scott said while he is never at 1st and 10 Sports Bar & Grill into the early morning hours, he always feels safe when he is there. Scott like other customers worry the incident is unfairly ruining the reputation of their favorite bar.
"It could happen anywhere, absolutely. I mean it doesn't necessarily have to be in this bar it could have been down the street in some of the other bars," said Warner Mueller, a bar customer.
Mueller, who said he has been frequenting the bar for more than 20 years, understands deputies have to protect themselves sometimes. He and others worry the deadly shooting casts a dark cloud over a place he considers not responsible for what happened on Thursday morning.
"I'll keep coming here. It's safe, it's safe to me," said Scott.
When reached for comment, the owner of the bar did not want to comment.
County code enforcement is expected to eventually visit 1st and 10 Sports Bar & Grill to investigate.
