BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A 43-year-old Boynton Beach man is in jail after being charged in the robbery and carjacking Saturday morning of an 80-year-old woman.

Marcia Simpkins was seated in her 2003 gray Saab station wagon in the parking lot of LensCrafters at 706 West Boynton Beach Boulevard when Willie Camper got into the front passenger seat and forced her to drive several blocks away from the store, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Camper demanded that Simpkins give him her gold-and-diamond wedding band and asked her to step out of the car, the affidavit stated.

Simpkins was able to walk back to the store and request assistance. She told police that the suspect held a black object in his hand and pointed it at her. She said the suspect had to help her place the vehicle into gear because she was nervous.

In addition, the store manager told police the suspect had been in the store before and that he knew him as Willie Camper.

While officers were talking to the victim, Camper was seen walking in the 200 block of Northeast 7 th Avenue, a few miles from where the carjacking took place.  He confessed to committing the acts and the car and ring were recovered.

He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail Saturday night and charged with carjacking, kidnapping and grand theft auto.
