BOCA RATON, Fla. -- There were no injuries, but a barber shop suffered an estimated $10,000 damage from a late Sunday night fire, officials said.
Boca Raton Fire Rescue crews were called to 1959 North Federal Highway about 9:45 p.m.
The listed address there is a shop called U.S. 1 Barber & Beauty.
Arriving crews saw light smoke coming from the barber shop storefront and black smoke showing from the rear of the building, Assistant Chief Raul Travieso said by email.
The fire was coming from the snack shop of the barber shop and was quickly put out, Travieso said.
Smoke had spread to a pet store adjacent to the barber shop, so firefighters used large fans to dissipate the smoke. No animals were harmed, according to Travieso.
Its cause remains under investigation.
