BOCA RATON, Fla. - A dentist who holds a license to practice medicine in Brazil has been arrested because he does not have a license to practice medicine in the Florida, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say Ubaldo Bittencourt used his home in Boca Raton to treat patients. Bittencourt, according to investigators, would only meet prospective patients who are Brazilian and speak Portuguese.
Bittencourt would travel to Brazil and return with medications and dental equipment, according to his arrest report.
Investigators say that Bittencourt had an older model dentist chair and shelving with medications in the laundry room in his home.
A complaint filed against Bittencourt claimed that his treatment area was dirty and there was no visible sterilization appliance in the room.
Bittencourt was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of practicing medicine without a license.
He has been released on bond.
