BOCA RATON, Fla. - A snorkeler was seriously injured Sunday afternoon a hit-and-run boating accident in the waters off of South Inlet Park in Boca Raton, police said.
The 21-year-old victim, who was not identified, was snorkeling in water about 50- to 75-yards off shore in water 10-feet deep when a white, 25-foot boat with a blue stripe crashed into him and kept going south, Boca Raton police said.
The accident happened about 4 p.m. in the 1100 block of S. Ocean Drive, just south of the Boca Inlet, police said. The victim was taken to Delray Medical Center with serious injuries.
Witnesses told police that there were between four to six people on the boat, which had a center console and twin, white Evinrude E-Tec motors.
