Sara Marin, Denise McCoy, Sara’s Entertainment: Two Boca women accused of running prostitution ring

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Two Boca women were arrested Tuesday night after officers said they ran a prostitution business under the guise of an escort service and one was the wife of a police officer.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Boca Raton police, Sara Marin, 42, and Denise McCoy, 34 -- owner and manager of Sara’s Entertainment -- received money for prostitution and money laundering. 

McCoy is the wife of police officer Sam McCoy, according to the FDLE.

The mayor of Boca Raton says no one has indicated that officer McCoy was involved in the alleged prostitution ring.

"The investigation will prove whatever it proves and if he had absolutely nothing to do with this then he's a fine person and he will continue," said mayor Susan Whelchel.

But that doesn't mean police are not asking questions.

McCoy has been placed on administrative leave following his wife's arrest so the department can investigate.

Investigators said Marin and McCoy's business is a "criminal enterprise with its only mission to provide escorts for the purpose of prostitution." It is believed six escorts worked for Sara’s Entertainment, according to police.

After a 5-month investigation, search warrants were executed Tuesday at two apartments rented by Sara’s Entertainment that officers suspected were used for prostitution.

The apartments were located at 9859 Boca Gardens Circle North, Unit 8 and 22312 Calibre Court, Unit 1108 -- both in suburban Boca Raton. 

Police say they discovered the alleged operation after the arrest of a suspected prostitute who said Denise McCoy threatened to have her deported back to her home country if she didn't sell her body.

Police say the prostitutes were forced to have sex with as many as twelve Johns per day at the two apartments in suburban Boca Raton.

The FDLE says Officer Sam McCoy was not implicated as being complicit during interviews with his wife.

Search warrants were also executed at the homes of Marin and McCoy. 

The investigation is still ongoing.

Both women were booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.

Mayor Whelchel says she's concerned not only about the McCoy family but also the city's image.

"I'm sure that there's collateral damage just by virtue of the fact that it involves someone who works for the city," Whelchel said. "My heart goes out to the family."
