A man was killed in a shooting involving a police officer on the 4000 block of North Military Trail near Spanish River Boulevard.

The Boca Raton Police Department said the shooting happened around 9 p.m. Friday night.

The suspect, who hasn't been named, was being chased by police accused of carjacking a taxicab.

Before the taxicab theft, investigators responded to an attempted carjacking of a Comcast truck on NW Fourth and 20th street in Boca Raton, which police believe the suspect was involved.

Boca Raton Police Chief Dan Alexander said multiple officers were in a "violent struggle" with the suspect and multiple gun shots were fired.

The suspect was shot twice in the chest.

A person was injured and so was an officer, but both were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
