BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Miami Heat are now three wins away from a return trip to the NBA finals. Tickets to the playoffs are becoming harder to find. The Heat and local law enforcement are warning fans to be careful where they buy their tickets.
Police report that a resident tried to buy tickets from a seller on Craigslist. He wired the seller $600 via MoneyGram before he realized it was a scam.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is investigating the case.
The Miami Heat on its website issued the following warning about buying tickets for the playoffs:
HEAT fans are encouraged to make their ticket purchases directly from the team. The general public can purchase tickets 24/7 online at HEAT.com or through the team’s resale site, NBATickets.com Resale Marketplace, which is also located online at HEAT.com. Tickets available on NBATickets.com Resale Marketplace are sold by HEAT Season Ticket Holders and other fans. NBATickets.com Resale Marketplace is a safe and convenient way for fans to purchase tickets that would be unavailable otherwise, including lower bowl tickets. Ticket prices for the NBATickets.com Resale Marketplace are established by each individual when the tickets are posted for sale and often exceed face value.
