Man killed Saturday afternoon when train strikes vehicle at Boca Raton crossing

A man was killed Saturday afternoon after his vehicle collided with a train in Boca, according to Assistant Fire Chief Michael Gergora, Boca Raton Fire Bureau.

Fire rescue crews responded to a call around 3:18 p.m. about a vehicle being struck by a train at the Palmetto Park Road crossing east of Military Trail, Gergora said. Upon arrival crews found a middle-age African American man dead inside a vehicle.

The victim has not been identified, pending notification of next-of-kin.

Boca police are investigating the accident.
