BOCA RATON, Fla. - Saturday started as a nice mother and daughter day at the beach for a woman who did not want to be identified.
Now it's the most horrific day of her life.
"These couple of days have been nightmare," she said. "I have not been able to sleep."
Investigators say off duty Boca Raton Parks and Recreation groundskeeper, Douglas Hughes, used his iPhone to videotape inside a Red Reef Park women's bathroom.
Documents say he caught the woman and her 10-year-old daughter changing on camera.
"I cry inside and I cry outside just to think about that her face is out there," she said.
But this unnamed woman is happy her daughter spotted the camera.
It forced the mother to run out just in time to get the suspect's license plate number.
"I had to do something not for just us but for other people who were victims of this horrendous, dirty individual," she said.
According to court documents, Hughes confessed to police of videotaping the family. Police say he also admitted that he's videotaped 25 to 30 different women and children at various Boca Raton parks.
"He was an employee with the City of Boca (Raton)," she said. "He had plenty of access to do whatever he wanted in those restrooms in any facility."
Wednesday he was fired, but that doesn't take away the pain and fear that lives within this mother.
"She's my whole life," the mother said about her daughter. "I dedicate it to protect my daughter. I could not do it this time and this hurts too much."
Hughes also told investigators he has been taping people since March or April, according to the report.
The arrest affidavit said that Hughes told police he flushed his iPhone memory card down the toilet.
NewsChannel 5's research found out the iPhone isn't manufactured to have a memory card, so there is no telling where the video is or if anyone else has seen these alleged crimes.
This mother is warning other parents to go to the police if they suspect they are victims.
Hughes also told investigators that he deleted all the videos off his Hotmail account, his iPhone and his HP laptop computer, according to the report.
Investigators are now working to see if that's true.
