BOCA RATON, Fla - David Ptak, a Palm Beach County school teacher, was arrested March 28th and charged with grand theft according to a report issued by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
Ptak, according to the arrest report, was house sitting for a woman who was out of town.
The alleged victim told investigators that Ptak took numerous pieces of jewelry from her home and pawned them at Jewelry Exchange for $600.
Ptak, according to his arrest report, told deputies that he is addicted to prescription drugs.
Palm Beach County deputies arrested Ptak and he was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
Nat Harrington with the Palm Beach County School Board confirms Ptak is an 8th grade teacher at Don Estridge Middle School.
He says the man is not currently at school and "he will soon be in the process of being reassigned."
Ptak has been released from the Palm Beach County Jail.
