BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Crime scene investigators and police were at the scene of car crash that killed a 23-year-old woman in Boca Raton this morning.
Around 1:14 a.m., police say Jessica Damaris Diaz, of Deerfield Beach, was driving in her1995 Toyota Corolla when she smashed into a light pole on the southeast corner of the intersection at St. Andrew's Boulevard and Verde Trail South.
Investigators said Diaz was traveling north on St. Andrews when her car slipped into the east grass shoulder and collided with the concrete pole.
Two marked crime scene investigation vans were parked at the scene early this morning. The medical examiner was also at the taped off intersection. A tarp was placed over the car shortly after investigators arrived.
Diaz, who was the only occupant of the Toyota, died at the scene.
Officials said northbound lanes of St Andrew's Boulevard and eastbound lanes of Verde Trail were shut down until 7 a.m.
