A Boca Raton private school and one residence were evacuated Thursday morning because of a gas leak, officials said.
The leak involved a pipe at a construction site at St. Andrew's School, 3900 Jog Road, according to Frank Correggio, spokesman for Boca Raton Fire Rescue Services.
Students from the middle school were temporarily transferred to another building and a home closest to the school was evacuated as a precaution, according to Correggio.
Additionally, Northwest 37th Street was closed to traffic from St. Andrews Boulevard to the St Andrew's campus.
Boca Raton Fire Rescue Hazardous Material Technicians eventually managed to clamp the 2" pipe that was leaking natural gas, Correggio said.
Crews with Florida Public Utilities arrived and will repair the pipe.
A street near the school is back open and the family and students who were evacuated have been allowed to return.
No injuries were reported.
