Convicted sex offender Robert Coletto gets 25 years for violating probation, downloading child porn

BOCA RATON, Fla. - A 47-year-old Boca Raton man was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Monday for violating probation on a child sex conviction, according to Palm Beach County State Attorney Michael McAuliffe.

In 1996, Robert J. Coletto was found guilty of attempted sexual battery on a child under 12 for molesting a 10-year-old child he was baby-sitting, according to court records.

Coletto was sentenced to 12 years in prison followed by 18 years on probation. In 2007, he was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender when he changed addresses, records showed.

While serving probation in 2010, investigators with the Palm Beach County Sexual Predator Enforcement Unit and Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office linked Coletto's Internet address to one sharing files of child pornography online, prosecutors said.

Agents examined Coletto's computer and found he had been searching for and downloading child pornography for some time. On Nov. 21, he was found guilty of violation of probation for possession of child pornography, court records showed.
