He was one of the world's most-wanted terrorist who wreaked havoc for more than a decade.

"He hurt the Muslims before he hurt the Americans," said Mohamad Ali, Boca Raton-based imam at the American Islamic Center of Florida.

Ali says bin Laden's death is good for the Muslim community.

"We feel very happy because justice is done, and we hope always that we have peace between people," said Ali.

Ali says the historic announcement was something any American Muslim was glad to hear.

"If we go back to the Islamic traditions it is "haram,"  not allowed to kill the innocent people," said Ali.

Ali says the fall of bin Laden can be seen as a bit of closure for families of September 11th victims.

"We don't accept what happened on September 11th. Our children...they are American. They like the United States. They want to build this country and they want peace in this country," said Ali.
