Boca Raton man accused of stalking 15-year-old girl during her Tri-Rail commute

BOCA RATON, Fla. - A Boca Raton man was arrested Tuesday, accused of stalking a 15-year-old girl during her Tri-Rail commute to and from school.

Officers said Aysar Aktimur, 49, followed the student and stared at her while she waited for the train.

The girl told police that she noticed Aktimur around Halloween glancing at her and waiting near a southbound Tri-Rail platform in West Palm Beach. After several days of this, she said Aktimur began smiling at her. She said when she moved, he would pursue her, sitting in the same car and following her once she reached her destination in Boca Raton.

According to Boca police, Aktimur finally approached the girl on Nov. 18. Officers said he tried to give her a small silver object, telling her, “Take it, you won’t regret it.”

The girl told Boca police that she refused to take the object and immediately reported the incident to a security guard on the train and to school district police officers.

That's when officers say a joint investigation between the Palm Beach County School District Police and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement began, and extensive surveillance was conducted at the Boca Raton Tri-Rail Station.

On Tuesday, detectives spoke with Aktimur at his apartment at 1230 NW 13th Street in Boca Raton.

According to Boca police, Aktimur told detectives that he did not make contact with any underage females, but he later said that he “behaved more relaxed than he should have.”

Officers said that Aktimur later admitted to staring at the victim, following her and trying to give her a computer flash drive.

Aktimur gave detectives the flash drive, which he said contained the second act of Giselle, a ballet. Aktimur told detectives his attraction to the girl stemmed from his own unfulfilled musical aspirations, according to Boca police.

Detectives arrested Aktimur and charged him with aggravated stalking of a person under 16.
