South Florida is cheering on its very own

American Idol

hopeful.

In Thursday night's show 16-year old Brett Loewenstern made quite an impression on American Idol judges.

Loewenstern is a junior at Spanish River High School in Boca Raton.

He shared a message about his appearance: "All about just being yourself -- and standing up to bullies."

Loewenstern's principal Susan Atherley said his classmates are behind him 100 percent.

"They're just thrilled for him, the message he's trying to send, making people be nice to each other is his core message and he's doing it through his music and his talent," Atherley said.

Loewenstern is moving on to "Hollywood Week."

The show's judges gave him great reviews. Randy told him, "Dude that was hot."
