A man with a briefcase stuck up a Bank of America branch in the 7000 block of Powerline Road Friday afternoon, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
The man told a teller he had a bomb and demanded money, the sheriff's office said.
He left in a 2000 silver Grand Prix but was later stopped by deputies and taken into custody.
The suspect then told deputies he did not have a bomb, but they did not find either the briefcase or stolen money.
As a result the bomb squad was dispatched to an area near the bank on Powerline Road near the intersection with Palmetto Park Road and shut it down for a time.
Powerline Road has since been reopened.
