BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Boynton Beach Police are searching for whoever stole a 250-pound mermaid statue from a man's backyard.

According to police, Timothy Gallo reported his 5-foot statue missing Wednesday from the backyard of his home on Northeast 10th Avenue.

Gallo told police he thought a friend had taken the statue to have it cleaned but the friend had not. He believes it was stolen sometime between November 8th and 17th. The statue is valued at $5,000.
