Indian River, Okeechobee and Brevard counties are included in a tornado watch across central Florida until 2 p.m. Monday on a day that is starting out warm and breezy.

Tropical Storm Debby remains centered 90 miles south southwest of Apalachicola, on Florida's Panhandle, and is nearly stationary with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph. It is projected to move northward very slowly toward Tallahassee, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

The broad storm is sending bands of showers to the Treasure Coast, starting around 9 or 10 a.m. There could be several during the day, as was the case on Sunday, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

The chance for severe weather is highest in the afternoon when the atmosphere heats up. That could produce strong storms and rotating cells similar to the one that produced a waterspout off Jupiter late Sunday.

The tropical storm is predicted to impact the Treasure Coast through at least Wednesday, possibly longer. Rain chances are 80 percent through midweek.

Expect winds to remain around 20 to 25 mph with wind gusts to 35 mph.
