OKEECHOBEE, Fla. - Gordon Suleiman went to work Sunday to help out a fellow bondsman.
The request seemed easy enough, picking up 29-year old Koty Lewis on an outstanding warrant for a misdemeanor charge.
Lewis is now in the Glades County Jail on a charge of premeditated murder.
The Glades County Sheriff's Office says Lewis shot Suleiman in the chest as the bail bondsman tried to take him into custody.
The shooting happened in front of Suleiman's wife, Cynthia.
The couple owned an Okeechobee bail bonds company together.
Suleiman loved living in Okeechobee, raising his family here and making close friends like Neli Maldonado.
"I remember one day that we got robbed and he came running, bringing money because he thought that they had taken all the gifts and that the kids didn't have no gifts," says Maldonado. "So he came running to us, asking what can he do."
Now the Suleimans need help.
The economy had already hit their bail bonds company hard and even Suleiman's funeral expenses are too much.
If you'd like to help the family, you can donate to their account at SunTrust banks. The account is under the names of Cynthia and Billie Suleiman.
You can also mail or drop off donations at:
