Dale Glenn Middleton, convicted of killing Roberta Christensen, sentenced to death

A 39-year-old man convicted of killing a woman was sentenced to death Friday, the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office said.

Dale Glenn Middleton, of the 2700 block of Northeast 11th Court, Okeechobee, was taken into custody in July 2009 for the stabbing death of Roberta Christensen, 49, at her home, detectives said. A jury spent one hour on Aug. 6 to convict Middleton of premeditated first-degree murder, burglary while armed and dealing in stolen property, the Sheriff's Office said.

Acquaintances of Middleton told investigators he had talked about burglarizing Christensen's home days after her death. Investigators learned he had taken a large-screen television from the home. Witnesses told detectives Middleton sold the television for $200.
