Venus Williams offers help to My Choice Academy building project in Palm Beach County

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - Tennis star and Olympic gold medalist, Venus Williams, helped staff from My Choice Academy to break ground on their new property Friday.

The new school will offer classes for elementary students, as well as G-E-D courses. The founder of the school said she created it to give kids a chance to get an education they might not receive otherwise.

Williams's interior design company, V Starr Interiors, is helping with the construction project for the school. It will be located off of Water Tower Road in Lake Park.

Classes at the academy begin August 20 at existing locations. Its founder says she expects the new location to be up and running within the next eight months
