JUPITER FARMS, Fla. -- Shuffling through old family photos and holding back tears, Lori Boldt Drucker faces the reality that her father, Roy Boldt, shot her mother, Virginia Boldt, then himself, inside the Clare Bridge of Tequesta assisted-living complex on Friday, out of what she calls a "love pact."
"It was all love, absolutely all love. This was Ginny and Roy. The 5 and 12-year-old were still there, best friends," said Drucker
Investigators responded to the complex Friday afternoon after hearing reports of shots being fired.
When police arrived, they found Roy, 81, on the floor and his wife Virginia, 75, in her bed, both dead from a gunshot wound.
"I am extremely strong. I literally hit the floor. I went down to my knees, I howled," said Drucker.
The couple's daughter, Drucker, said her foremost concern is with the people inside the assisted-living complex.
Drucker does not want people at the complex to feel unsafe and understands many are very sensitive to gun-violence right now because to the recent event in Newtown, Conn.
Drucker said she does not believe it was ever the intent of her father to harm anyone else or strike fear in anyone.
"He just would have wanted to quickly get done with what he lovingly wanted to do. Which is to finish his pain and to finish hers," said Drucker.
Drucker said her father was in immense pain and her mother had been slowly drifting away over the last few years due to symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer’s.
The couple met as friends when they were kids in New York when he was 12 and she was 5. They were married for 56 years. Drucker said she believes her father and mother had made a "love pact," agreeing that they would both pass away together.
"It would have been much nicer for me to imagine the two together, in each other's arms and not separated by a floor," said Drucker.
Drucker said as much as it pains her to lose her parents, she knows they are in a better place.
WPTV NewsChannel 5 tried reaching the Tequesta Police Department to get the latest on the investigation, but calls on Monday were not returned.
