TEQUESTA, Fla. -- A 74-year-old man is dead and two people were transported to Jupiter Medical Center after a three-vehicle crash in Tequesta Thursday, according to Martin County Fire Chief Doug Killane.

Rescue crews were called to the scene at U.S. 1 and SE Hill Club Terrace by security officers at Jupiter Hills on 17800 SE Federal Highway around 9:04 a.m.

Killane said a vehicle made a left turn in front of oncoming traffic. Three vehicles were involved in the wreck, one with heavy damage.

74-year-old Marcel Wagner of Tequesta died at the scene. The two other victims in the crash were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. They were later treated and released.

Northbound lanes of U.S. 1 in Tequesta were shut down for a time.
