Authorities have identified the West Palm Beach man who committed suicide by leaping off the PGA Boulevard overpass onto Interstate 95 on Tuesday morning during rush hour.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators say 61-year-old Richard Chandler parked his 2001 Harley Davidson on the southbound entrance ramp of I-95 from PGA Boulevard and jumped off into the path of oncoming traffic at 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

Chandler fell 29 feet and into the path of a semi-truck that hit him, according to release by FHP. He died at the scene.

The incident caused at least two hours of delays in the southbound lanes of I-95, after FHP was forced to close all of the lanes to conduct an investigation into Chandler's death.
