TBC Corporation expanding in Palm Beach Gardens, adding 175 jobs

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.-- Governor Rick Scott was on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony as TBC Corporation celebrated its expansion in Palm Beach Gardens.

The result of the expansion will mean the creation of 175 jobs with the company.

TBC Corporation, one of the largest marketers of automotive replacement tire and services, will occupy the old Iberia bank building.

The governor said the company chose to expand in Palm Beach County over Illinois.

"What you have is they've chosen Florida because it’s a better place to do business and how they think about it is, they think they're doing better in their business. They can solve their customer needs better. Part of it is we have lower taxes, we have permitting process, less regulation and a pro-business attitude," the governor said.

The governor thanked Enterprise Florida and the business development board for their help with the expansion.

He also awarded TBC Corporation owner, Larry Day, with the Governor's Business Ambassador Award.
 
The governor was also asked about FSU's digital program, that could create hundreds of jobs if it remains in West Palm Beach.

He said that the Board of Governors is still discussing that option but in the meantime, he would consider sitting down with West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio to talk about options.
