PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla - A teen who said she escaped a locked room through a broken window told police that she and her sibling were kept inside by her mother and her mother's boyfriend.
Palm Beach Gardens police, in an arrest report, say that Sheila Cook told them that she would lock her two teens in a room as a form of discipline.
Cook's 14-year-old daughter told police that she had been held in a room for a month and a half and had lost twenty pounds during that time.
The teen says the locked room was a torture chamber because she had no access to the outside and survived on bologna and cheese sandwiches.
Cook says that the teens, who were home schooled, would generally be locked up for two weeks as punishment.
Sheila Cook has been released on bond. Her boyfriend Gregg Aurelius remains in the Palm Beach County Jail.
