PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - A 17-year-old Palm Beach Gardens High student was arrested for bringing a loaded gun to school, according to Palm Beach County School District spokesman Nat Harrington.

A fight broke out on Friday morning among 4 students in the school gymnasium, while approximately 2,500 students were getting ready to take their senior photo, said Harrington.

No one was threatened or injured in the fight, said Harrington. School police searched the four students involved in the fight.

A 17-year-old male student was found with a loaded .22-caliber handgun, and some unidentified pills.  Another student was found with a marijuana joint.

The student with the handgun was arrested and transported to the Palm Beach County jail.  The other three students involved in the fight are being disciplined by school officials.

“This incident was very disappointing to us, we try to keep our students as safe as possible,” said Harrington.
