One northbound lane of the Florida Turnpike in Palm Beach Gardens has reopened after a vehicle caught fire.
The fire occurred around 2 p.m. and involved a transport carrier hauling multiple cars, said the Florida Highway Patrol.
One of the tires in the car carrier blew and burst into flames as it was traveling north on the Turnpike near mile marker 108, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Palm Beach Gardens fire rescue crews and hazmat crews helped battle the fire and clean up the diesel fuel leaking from the tractor trailer's two fuel tanks.
The driver, Alberto Suarez pulled over to the right shoulder and the carrier truck became engulfed in flames.
Suarez was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center due to smoke inhalation.
The tractor trailer was hauling eight vehicles of which four were damaged, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
As of 6:00p.m., clean up crews were still working on the northbound shoulder.
