PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Dozens of protesters gathered in Palm Beach Gardens Monday morning to demonstrate against construction at the new Scripps biotech research site.
The group chanted and held signs such as "biodiversity not biotechnology."
The city plans on transforming about 170 acres of land near Donald Ross Road and Central Boulevard into a hub of biotech companies, including Scripps Research Institute.
The protesters claim construction will hurt wildlife. Planners say no endangered species would be placed in jeopardy.
