NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla. - An injured manatee has been rehabilitated and released back into the wild.
The animal was rescued in March of 2010 from the Riviera Beach Power Plant with propeller wounds.
After the rescue she was flown to the Cincinnati Zoo for treatment and rehab.
Wednesday she was released in North Palm Beach.
For one of the people on hand, it was a special day.
"It is really great, especially when you are involved with the animal from the time that they are first seen with the injuries to carrying out the rescue, planning the rescue and then keeping track of her while she goes through the rescue process," said Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission Research Associate John Cassidy.
Officials expect the manatee, named Illusion, will stay in the area.
FWC plans to keep track of her.
