NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The State Fire Marshal will determine the cause of a fire that started just after 3 a.m. Wednesday morning at True Treasures Antiques Consignment shop in North Palm Beach.
Firefighters from North Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to the scene.
Chief J.D. Armstrong says the fire was small, and broke out in the back of the building.
Although it wasn't a large fire, the Chief says firefighters had a hard time getting to it because the large consignment shop is filled with antiques, and was also filled with smoke.
He says sprinklers inside helped put out the flames.
The department called out for the aid of the state fire marshal's office to determine the cause of the fire.
The store's owner, Elena Johnson, says she's owned this location for more than twenty years.
"I'm in shock. It's something you never expect would happen, " says Johnson. Although she was very upset, she says "Most of all I'm thankful nobody got hurt."
Firefighters say the store owner can expect to see some water and smoke damage inside the shop. No word yet on the extent of the damage.
