More than 35,000 customers of Seacoast Utility are without water at this time and are under a system-wide boil water alert, said Andrea Holmes, spokeswoman for the utility.
She said that they are trying to assess the situation, but that it appears that there was a problem during construction at the water-treatment plant and one of the main water pipes was cut. The incident happened around 4 p.m.
Seacoast’s service area goes from Donald Ross Road in Palm Beach Gardens to Silver Beach Road in Lake Park and west to PGA National and north to Lost Tree Village.
Cities in Seacoast’s service include sections of Juno Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Lake Park, North Palm Beach and surrounding communities.
