JUPITER ISLAND, Fla. - Jupiter Island deputies along with the Martin County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Customs and Border Protection are searching for several people they say washed up on the shores of Jupiter Island.

They say the people came ashore sometime Friday night.

At least two people have been taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol agents.

Law enforcement agents are searching by air, land and on the ocean along South Beach Road.

Jupiter Island Police confirm they are looking for 6 to 8 people, believed to be of Haitian descent.

They have set up a perimeter on the island and are checking cars headed to and from Jupiter Island.

Residents in the area are warned to be on the lookout for any abnormal activity.

News channel 5 is on the scene and working to get more details.
