JUPITER, Fla. -- Three schools from Carver Avenue West to Indiantown Road North in Jupiter were temporarily on lockdown Tuesday while officers investigated a residential burglary within the Riverwalk residential development.
The lockdown was a precautionary measure. Jupiter Police stationed officers at each school during the search.
According to police, witnesses saw two people in the area and one was carrying a semi-automatic handgun.
The second was reportedly armed with a four-inch knife, according to police.
Thanks to a description by witnesses, K-9 officers were able to track them to a residence.
In custody are two teens, ages 14 and 15. One will be charged with armed burglary and aggravated assault with a firearm. The other will be charged with armed burglary.
Police say no schools or students were ever in danger.
