JUPITER, Fla. - A 41-year-old woman drowned Wednesday afternoon in Jupiter, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue spokesman Don DeLucia.

DeLucia said 41-year-old Sheila M. Scott, who was confined to a wheelchair, spent about 20 minutes at the bottom of a community lake behind a duplex at 146 Sims Creek Lane before she was discovered.

Scott was located unresponsive in the water and her wheelchair was found on the embankment of the pond. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.

"Crews worked on her all the way to Jupiter Medical Center,"  DeLucia said.

The incident happened around 4:30 p.m.

This investigation is on-going and additional details will be released as they become available.
