WASHINGTON,D.C. (AP) -- President Obama is awarding billions in stimulus funding to support research into cures for cancer and other diseases.
Some of that money is coming to the Jupiter area.
One of the recipients is the Scripps Research Institute in Jupiter.
Nearly two-and-a-half million dollars is going to four researchers at the institute.
The biggest chunk of the money, $1.4-million, is awarded to Dr. Claes Wahlestedt, a professor and director of neuroscience discovery.
That money is expected to be used to research Alzheimer's disease and alcoholosim.
Three other scientists,John Cleveland, Tom Kodadek and Glenn Micalizio, are receiving grants totalling more than $1-million.
