JUPITER, FL -- There is always and overwhelming need for charity, no matter how impossible the economy.
The sad irony is this - the more difficult the giving, the more urgent the need.
Every 4 minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer.
There has been no slowdown in this disease that coincides with the nations money woes.
More than 140,000 people in the United States will be diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma in 2009.
New cases of leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma account for 9.5 percent of the 1,479,350 new cancer cases diagnosed in the United States this year.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is committed to finding cures for leukemia and related diseases and improving the lives of those affected by these diseases.
This is an ambitious task and they need your help!
Join Jupiter Lanes, located 350 Maplewood Drive, Jupiter, to fight the ravages of cancer and celebrate your efforts Sunday, December 13th by helping the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training .
This very important fundraise begins at 4 p.m. and lasts until 7 p.m.
Two games of bowling and shoes cost $15, with proceeds going directly to the Palm Beach Area Chapter of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.
LLS has invested more than $680 million in research since 1949 - over $69 million in 2009 - specifically targeting leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
Last year alone, LLS made 4.9 million contacts with patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.
Over the past 20 years, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training® (TNT) has grown to become an unparalleled sports training program.
More than 390,000 participants, from first timers to seasoned athletes, have trained with the Team and achieved their best at marathons, half marathons, triathlons, 100-mile century bike rides and hiking adventures.
