Green turtles, an endangered species named for its body fat's color, can weigh up to 400 pounds.

Checkers was found at Carlin Park in Jupiter on Oct. 8 and was weak, anemic and underweight.

Veterinarians at Loggerhead treated its digestive tract and administered calcium gluconate, iron and antibiotics to improve its blood work.

The release is scheduled at the beach adjacent to Loggerhead at 14200 U.S. 1.
