UPDATE: The fire was contained, no homes were threatened. Lightning is suspected of starting the fire.

EARLIER STORY:

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and Florida Division of Forestry crews are battling “aggressive” brush fire near 11600 Aviation Boulevard at North County General Aviation Airport, according to dispatchers.

PBFR and Forestry Division units have been able to stop the fire from growing. The area burning is approximately eight acres, according to Dave Rosenbaum, Forestry Division.

The fire is located near the North County General Aviation Airport in unincorporated Palm Beach County.

Forestry has brought in tractors to build containment lines. The fire is not threatening any structures.

According to Capt. Albert Borroto, spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, the brush fires near North Palm Beach County General Aviation Airport may have been ignited by a lightning strike.

There is no other information available at this time.
