The Martin County Sheriff's Office arrested a known gang member Wednesday morning in connection with a 2012 murder.
Deputies, along with the US Marshal's Regional Fugitive Task Force picked up Shane Tarrell Daniels in Port St. Lucie.
Daniels is charged with the shooting death of Tony Parks of Hobe Sound last May.
About 12:19 a.m. May 4, deputies went to an address on Southeast Randall Court in the Mark Landing apartments after a report of a shooting.
Investigators found Parks, 28, with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen in the parking lot. He died after being taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Parks was born and raised in Martin County and attended South Fork High School. He worked with his father, who has a tree service.
Martin County Sheriff William Snyder says Daniels is a known member of the "Bloods" street gang out of New York.
"Martin County is a safe community, people here enjoy a very safe environment so we want to be very careful that gangs don't get a foothold in the community," the sheriff said.
Daniels is charged with second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He's being held at the Martin County jail without bond.
