STUART, Fla. - Dozens showed up to Memorial Park in downtown Stuart for Relay for Life event to raise thousands of dollars for cancer research.
Relayers started walking around a line of luminaries at noon on Saturday and kept going until 6 a.m. Sunday.
Nobody walked more than Alicia Gifford who walked the entire 18 hours in honor of her mother.
Donna Gifford, died last June of ovarian cancer.
Alicia said she only felt it was right to keep walking during the relay in her honor.
The organizers said the event raised $30,000 for the American Cancer Society, which will help with cancer research.
