MARTIN COUNTY — A 17-year-old boy was critically injured Saturday when he fell into the St. Lucie Inlet and struck a boat propeller, according to Martin County Fire Rescue spokesman Dan Harshburger.

About 10:26 a.m., emergency crews responded to Sandsprit Park after receiving a call about a teenager who fell off a small boat and his arm made contact with a propeller, Harshburger said.

The teen, who has not been identified, was flown to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce.

No further information was available on Saturday.
