STUART, Fla. - The host of a late Saturday night party for a few friends is facing criminal charges after the party grew to a size he couldn't control, according to a Martin County Sheriff's Office arrest report.

Deputies early Sunday morning charged Trace Barnes, 19, of the 4600 block of Southeast Winterhaven Court, with having an open house party after receiving calls about loud music coming from the house, the report states.

About 12:30 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to Barnes' home, where about 25 people were standing outside. When the teens saw the deputies, someone yelled, "Cops are here," and partygoers scattered with some jumping over a fence.

Inside the house, deputies found about 25 more teens, including two 17-year-old girls who were drinking beer and vodka, the report states.

Barnes said he had a party that got out of hand as more people showed up, he report states.

Later on Sunday, Barnes was released from the Martin County Jail on $250 bond.
