STUART, Fla. - A 33-year-old Stuart man is facing charges of operating a marijuana grow house after detectives found about seven dozen marijuana plants growing in a back room, according to a Martin County Sheriff's Office news release.

Detectives on Wednesday charged Erin David Crawford, of the 500 block of Southwest Carolina Drive, with marijuana cultivation, marijuana possession over 20 grams, marijuana possession with intent to sell, and possession of the drug Ecstasy.

Detectives found 86 marijuana plants in various growth stages inside a locked back room that had lighting and ventilation systems, the release states. Also detectives found 9.3 grams of ecstasy and 181.9 grams of marijuana in the refrigerator. The drugs' estimated street value is $88,000.

Crawford told detectives not only does he sell marijuana but he cooks with it and needs large quantities to do so, the release states.

Crawford was released Thursday from the Martin County Jail on $40,000 bail.
