STUART, Fla. - A head-on crash on Cove Road in Stuart sends four people to hospital, two as trauma patients, said Chief John Balding, spokesman for Martin County Fire Rescue.
The accident happened a few minutes after 1 p.m. near the intersection of Cove Road and Northgate Drive. Two people met trauma criteria. One was flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach and the other was taken by ground to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, Balding said.
Two others were taken to local hospital with minor injuries.
The accident closed Cove Road from Willoughby Boulevard to Avalon Drive for several hours. The road has since reopened.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, Balding said.
