STUART, Fla. - Martin County Sheriff's detectives say Jorge Hurtado, 20, and Alejandro Cruz, 19, stole two boat motors early Tuesday morning from Seagate Marine Sales on US 1 in Stuart.
The men didn't get far, though. They were arrested in the nearby plaza, Concord Square.
Detectives say Hurtado and Cruz confessed to stealing one Yamaha four stroke and one Mercury motor. They're charged with burglary and grand theft.
An arrest affidavit obtained Wednesday says Cruz lives in West Palm Beach, and Hurtado is from Lake Worth.
Seagate Marine Sales also reported two stolen boat motors in June, according to deputies. No arrests have been made in that case.
The boat sales business owner says he's already invested $15,000 in surveillance equipment. He's planning on investing in infrared cameras that detect body heat, as well.
