STUART, Fla. -- - The man who's accused of murdering and kidnapping a ten-year-old girl nearly two decades ago in Martin County made his first appearance in court on Friday.
Chester Price appeared before a judge via a courtroom monitor where he faced charges of murder and kidnapping in the disappearance of Andrea Parsons.
Despite investigators telling the judge on Friday that Price and Claude Davis worked together to kidnap Parsons, the state attorney in Martin County said Davis is immune to prosecution because he has already been dismissed from charges years ago and cannot be charged again.
The detective also read out loud details from the grand jury indictment that lead to the arrest of Price.
"Chester confirmed that he did put her in the van, Claude Davis' van. Andrea Parsons bit his hand trying to get out. He did not allow her to get out. He struck her and she became unresponsive. The following morning is when she was disposed of," said Detective Yesenia Carde of Martin County.
The state attorney's office expressed frustration in not being able to charge Davis, but said the law is the law. A representative did say that the office could force Davis to testify in court.
When WPTV NewsChannel 5 visited the residence of Davis, he did not answer but neighbors confirmed he still lived at the address.
The next time Davis will be in court has yet to be determined by the state attorney's office. A representative felt Davis could be arraigned in about a month
