STUART Fla. - Martin Volunteers’ White Doves Holiday Project sets out to help struggling families during the holiday season.
The organization provides the needy with holiday necessities, like toys for the children and food for the whole family. It expects to serve more than 1,000 families this holiday season and is encouraging local residents to get involved by donating unused hurricane items, like nonperishable food and batteries.
“We’re always in need of additional nonperishable food for the families served through the White Doves Holiday Project, and I expect the need to be even greater for this year,” said George Phillips, White Doves Holiday Project volunteer warehouse manager.
White Doves is accepting nonperishable food items, toys and monetary donations any weekday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1 to 17 at the Martin County Fairgrounds, Building B., 2616 S.E. Dixie Highway, Stuart. Call 772-220-4472 or visit MartinVolunteers.org for more information, and for toy donations, and nearby drop-off location, visit Marine Toys for Tots Foundation .
